Merritt Tierce is a staff writer on the Netflix show ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK and the author of the critically-acclaimed novel LOVE ME BACK (Doubleday, 2014). Her essays, reviews, and fiction have appeared in The New York Times, Oxford American, The Paris Review, Marie Claire, and Cosmopolitan, among other publications. In 2004, she helped found a Dallas-based abortion fund called the Texas Equal Access Fund, which has provided financial assistance to thousands of low-income people when they wanted an abortion and couldn’t afford it. Merritt worked as the TEA Fund’s executive director from 2011-2014, and co-wrote a play about abortion called ONE IN 3.
Mark SaFranko’s novels include Hating Olivia (Harper Perennial and 13E Note Editions, named one of Virgin France’s Favorite Summer Reads of 2009), No Strings (Thomas & Mercer and Black Coffee Press, named one of Blackheart Magazine’s best books of 2012), The Suicide (Honest Publishing, named one of Foyles Best Ten Novels of 2014), Lounge Lizard (13e Note Editions, Murder Slim Press), God Bless America (13e Note Editions, Murder Slim Press) and Dirty Work (13e Note Editions, Murder Slim Press). Mister SaFranko is also a playwright. His plays have been seen on stages in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as well as many in the United States. As an actor he has appeared in several independent films, including Inner Rage, A Better Place, Shoot George, and The Road From Erebus, which are seen on cable television. Lisa Eve Cheby’s poems and reviews have appeared in various journals including The Rumpus, The Citron Review, Tidal Basin Review, A cappella Zoo, and TAB: Journal of Poetry and Poetics, which nominated her poem for a 2015 Pushcart Prize. Lisa's poems are also found in the anthologies Drawn to Marvel, The Burden of Light, Coiled Serpent, and Full Moon.Her first book, Love Lessons from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is available from Dancing Girl Press and was featured in The Wardrobe’s Best Dressed Series. She was a 2017 Writer in Residence at Sundress Academy for the Arts' Firefly Farms and was a participant in the Tin House Summer Workshops in 2013 and the Las Dos Brujas Summer Workshop in 2017. In addition to poetry, Lisa has published research in library science journals, Knoweldge Quest and SRJ [pronounced as "SURGE"].
