Well-Read Black Girl Book Club Meeting!

Summertime is here, and we are excited to announce our July pick for the Well-Read Black Girl Book Club at Book Soup!

Next month we will be discussing Tomi Adeyemi’s epic adventure Children of Blood and Bone! This fantasy YA novel has captured our attention—and much praise—since it was published in March of 2018, opening up the world of fantasy to include Nigerian folklore and the magic of the god Orisha.

With the addition of this title not only will we be able to support an emerging artist of color, but we will be able to really open up a discussion on what it means to be a YA novel. Is it strictly for young adults? Do you think that there are things we can learn about our youth or about ourselves from them?

Our AUGUST selection will be The Travelers by Regina Porter.
